In this beginner friendly workshop you’ll learn how to make a small coiled mat using the ancient technique of stick weaving with just two sticks. No previous experience is needed. Stick weaving is a portable form of hand-weaving that uses handheld sticks or pegs instead of a frame or fixed loom. It is a simple and satisfying craft whose origins date back thousands of years.  

All materials are provided. You will take away your mat or coasters, your own pair of weaving sticks at the end of the workshop and a helpful guide to stick weaving so you can continue your projects at home.

About Your Host

Anna is a Leeds based jeweller and maker and works in the heritage sector.

Her love of stick weaving began several years ago and provided the perfect way to use up all the many, many yarn ends she’s accumulated through her long standing love of crochet!

Anna is especially interested in the therapeutic benefits of hand making to enhance mental, physical and emotional well-being.
