Join textile artist Kayleigh Davis from ocre natural dye studio for an exciting workshop exploring natural pigments to create your own naturally dyed ceramic baubles

Suitable for absolute beginners, the session will introduce natural dyeing, and printing with plants. You’ll learn about natural dye techniques suitable for ceramics including; dip-dyeing and eco-printing and using a selection of prepared natural dyes, plants and even food waste.

You will then use these techniques to decorate a pair of ceramic baubles which you can add a little gold shine to, hang with delicate silk ribbon and take them home to adorn your tree or gift to someone else.

Everything you’ll need for this event will be provided. This will include: two ceramic baubles prepared for dyeing, a variety of foraged and grown natural dyes for you to choose from, some silk ribbon, gold leaf and a bag to take your baubles home in.

To note: As we will be working with natural dyes, we advise you wear something which you don’t mind getting a little bit mucky.

About Your Host

Kayleigh Davis is a textile artist, facilitator and the owner of ocre natural dye studio whose practice focuses on naturally dyed silks. Immersed in nature from a young age, her work seeks to explore the impermanence and fragility of the natural world throughout the seasons by embedding foraged and grown pigments and prints into cloth.

Her process is intrinsically meditative as she forages for seasonal botany around local woodlands and grows her own dye plants in a dedicated colour garden. Subsequently, the plants she embeds into her works are selected intuitively, often qualifying due to their ability, through form or colour to spark joy. 

Kayleigh works with a range of different organisations including community projects, festivals, CICs, museums, galleries, art studios, schools and universities to facilitate natural dye sessions focused around nature, wellbeing and sustainability.
